The Mukilteo Schools Foundation (MSF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students & staff across the Mukilteo School District through grants, scholarships, & community partnerships. Our work helps remove barriers, enrich learning opportunities, & invest in student success.
We are a growing foundation with an engaged Board & strong community support, we are seeking a hands-on Executive Director to lead day-to-day operations & help grow our impact.
Position Overview
The Executive Director is the primary operating, development, & communications leader of the Mukilteo Schools Foundation. This part-time role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution & serves as the public face of the MSF. This role actively builds & maintains relationships with community partners, local businesses, civic organizations, & stakeholders through regular outreach, meetings, & community presence. The Director represents the MSF at community events, chamber meetings, & partner gatherings to strengthen visibility, relationships, & philanthropic support.
The Executive Director works closely with the Board of Directors & is responsible for fundraising, donor stewardship, communications, events, program administration, organizational operations, & other duties as assigned. This position is ideal for a self-directed professional who enjoys building relationships, managing systems, & seeing tangible results from their work.
Position Details

Reports To: President, MSF Board of Directors

Status: Part-time, up to 30 hours per week

Compensation: $35–$40 per hour, depending on experience

Compensation Review: This position includes a performance-based compensation review at six (6)
months. Compensation adjustments may be made based on demonstrated performance, fundraising achievements, scope of responsibility, & organizational growth. -
Schedule: Flexible; some evenings & weekends required

This is an at-will, exempt, & 50%-time position. Hybrid work environment: remote, in the community, & in person at pre-set meeting locations.
Key Responsibilities
Board Support & Organizational Operations
-
Attend monthly Executive Board & Board of Directors meetings
-
Create & distribute meeting packets in collaboration with the Board President
-
Take meeting notes & prepare & distribute official meeting minutes
-
Send regular MSF updates to Board members
-
Manage the MSF calendar, schedules, & invitations
-
Maintain & organize MSF documents & files
-
Ensure accurate record keeping & adherence to nonprofit best practices

Support the President, officers, & committees in making recommendations & implementing policies programs.

Fund Development & Donor Stewardship

Maintain & update donor records in the MSF’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system

Run CRM reports for bookkeeping, reporting, & board use

Manage donor acknowledgments, including gift receipts & thank-you communications

Meet with current & prospective donors to build relationships

Create & send donor emails & newsletters

Lead planning & execution of all fundraising events. Manage event logistics, coordinate volunteers, work with event contractors, & ensure legal requirements are met for events.

Develop passive fundraising opportunities
Marketing, Communications & Digital Engagement

Create graphics & marketing materials​

Write & distribute media releases

Create, manage, & post content on Facebook, Instagram, & LinkedIn

Support website updates & digital communications

Create & distribute the MSF’s annual report highlighting impact & donors

Create other MSF products as assigned

Design, develop, & oversee a comprehensive event marketing calenda
Program Administration & Impact

Support administration of all MSF programs
-
Coordinate any application processes, communications, & award timelines

Assist in evaluating program effectiveness & student impact
-
Identify opportunities for future programs aligned with student & district needs

Assist Board in developing strategic plan

Develop planned giving program
Qualifications
-
Experience in nonprofit operations, fundraising, communications, or community leadership
-
Comfortable utilizing CRM systems & digital tools
-
Experience with donor communications, data management, & reporting
-
Strong skills in public speaking/public relations, social media & writing collateral marketing pieces
-
Highly organized & able to manage multiple priorities independently
-
Comfortable representing an organization publicly & building relationships
-
